Are You Allowing Toxins in Your Body?
Here is another article in my living longer series. Today covers a very serious topic: toxins in your body.
A significant portion of the population routinely exposes their bodies to substances that are not good for their health. Some people do it deliberately and some unknowingly. Yet most are ignorant of the impact these substances have on their body. Are you one of these people that allows toxins in your body?
The first category of people introduces harmful substances into their bodies deliberately. These include acts like smoking, drinking excessively, consuming un-prescribed pharmaceutical products, taking illicit substances, and indulging in junk food. If you are in this category, you are intentionally cutting your longevity short. Eventually, the toxins in your body will catch up to you.
Sadly, actions like smoking, for instance, causes damage to your system that can never be fully reversed, and which you will have to live with forever. As such, every cigarette you smoke reduces your chance of having a quality life when you grow older.
The second category is more subtle and therefore less noticeable. These people consume foods containing dangerous substances that they are not aware of. They fail to check food labels, and lack the knowledge to discern organic products from products laden with chemicals, hormone supplements, genetically engineered vegetables, and products poisoned using insecticides.
The fact of the matter is that your system can only handle so much in terms of toxins. In most cases, your liver has to do the dirty work, followed by the kidneys and the skin (some unwanted substances are excreted along with sweat through the skin’s pores).
What you might not realize, however, is that our bodies have to cope with a lot of pollutants and allergens already. Any toxins in your body that you introduce through foods simply adds to the load. As a result, your system gets to a point where it simply is unable to get rid of what it is exposed to, and starts collecting toxins.
Unfortunately, once these toxins reach a certain level, they will start affecting the functioning of your body in general and reduce the overall quality of your life. If this happens on a continuous basis, a number of your organs will be placed under continuous strain, creating the possibility of premature organ failure.
The only way to stop poisoning your system and allowing the toxins in your body from building up is to educate yourself. Once you know what is harmful, and how it damages your body, you will know what to avoid and why. Ignorance has a very high price tag. Especially, if it is paid for with ill health.
At the end of the day, allowing undesirable toxins to enter your body is largely a matter of education. We all need to be aware of the existence of toxins, and to be aware of the dangers they present to our long term health.
Consuming toxins due to ignorance can be rectified with a simple change in attitude. Ignorance is not bliss. Make a decision to educate yourself. Read food labels. Find out what you are eating. Try to find organic goods.
